Manning set up the PeyBack Foundation in 1999, an organization which helps struggling youths establish a more successful future.

The PeyBack Foundation provides leadership and advancement opportunities for kids through recognized community-based programs.

The foundation has donated more than $900,000 to organizations in Indiana, Tennessee [where he played collegiately] and Louisiana [where he grew up].

In 1970, Johnny Unitas, a Hall of Famer and quarterback for the Baltimore Colts and the San Diego Chargers, was the first player to receive the award.

The NFL renamed its Man of the Year Award after Payton shortly after his death in 1999.
